Early Life and Career
Adele was born Adele Adkins on May 5, 1988, in Tottenham, London, England. Her parents divorced when she was two years old, and she was raised by her mother, Penny Adkins. Adele began singing at a young age, and she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon, London.
After graduating from the BRIT School, Adele signed a recording contract with XL Recordings in 2006. She released her debut album, 19, in 2008. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it won Adele two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Continued Success
Adele's second album, 21, was released in 2011. The album was even more successful than her debut, and it sold over 30 million copies worldwide. 21 won Adele six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
Adele's third album, 25, was released in 2015. The album was another critical and commercial success, and it sold over 20 million copies worldwide. 25 won Adele five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
Personal Life
Adele is married to Simon Konecki, and they have one child together, a son named Angelo. Adele is known for being private about her personal life, and she rarely gives interviews.
Philanthropy
Adele is a supporter of several charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Red Cross. She has also donated money to help victims of natural disasters.
